TriStar R&G Triple Challenge heads to Donington Park as support for World Superbike Championship!

20th May 2014 – The third round of the 2014 TriStar R&G Triple Challenge gets underway this weekend at the world famous Donington Park as support for the World Superbike Championship. With two races over the weekend, the 27 riders who make up this year’s Championship will be looking to impress on the world stage.

After a fantastic double header at Oulton Park, which saw Championship leader Freddy Pett further extend his lead following a third place in the opening race and victory in the second, he comes into the weekend looking to repeat the victory he had here last year. It was 2013 Young Gun victor Tom Carne who impressed most at Oulton though, taking his debut victory in the opening race. In the Cup, Andrew Lund secured the double in impressive style to take a commanding lead at the top of the standings.

At just under 2.5 miles long, the Donington Park circuit is steeped in history and alongside World Superbikes has also previously hosted the British round of MotoGP. Considered a real ‘riders’ circuit with the fast, flowing opening Craner Curves section before the slower stop-start Fogarty Esses and Melbourne Loop, Donington will undoubtedly throw up several surprises on the Championship’s first of two visits this season (returning in September with the British Superbike Championship).

T3 Racing owner and series organiser Tony Scott said, “Donington Park is one of the most famous circuits in the world and it’s always special for us as a series and for the riders to be supporting the World Superbike Championship. This season has already proven to be a thriller with four different winners from the five races we’ve had so far and although Freddy is leading the Championship, he’s not had it easy so I fully expect Donington to feature two action-packed races!”

The TriStar R&G Triple Challenge utilises the hospitality of the world renowned Ace Cafe London, teaming up with the cafe at each of the nine MCE British Superbike events providing exclusive hospitality across all three days of the event. Guests are able to enjoy a full English breakfast upon their arrival and selected hot specialties from the Ace menu for lunch. Drinks and refreshments are also available throughout the day.
